At formal occasions, such as a wedding, a Japanese man will wear a hakama and a montsuki. The hakama looks like a long, loose-fitting skirt. The montsuki is a long, loose-fitting jacket. On it, is the 04 mon 54, or family crest, of its wearer. A formal montsuki has five crests--one on each sleeve, one on the back, and two on the front.
